Digital literacy and Health, hygiene and well-being
Seniors supported by youth as volunteers from different organizations helped to run this activity and was successful. Volunteers learned and seniors learned as well from each other. These were inter-generational activities. Seniors and some single parents learned about using the internet and features, using computers some basic information based on mouse and keyboard, word, email, online banking, online shopping, and protecting your information from scams. For the health well-being, they also knew how to control a blood pressure and diabetes, get a good quality of sleep, practice foot care and follow health diet using Canada’s food guide.
Community Garden
We cultivated a variety of food from different cultures of participants such as carrots, cabbages, beans, corns, amaratius, kale, broccoli, potatoes, squash, sorrels(ngayi ngayi), etc.
Emergency response during extreme weather
Provided information about extreme heat and cold weather and distributed tools such as home thermometers, fans,and information posters.
Sewing Masks
Seniors and single parents learned to sew masks by using sewing machines and hands.
Hamper: delivered food packages to seniors from the community garden , local love grant from the UWBC.
Summer Picnic: shared harvest from our garden with gardeners and enjoyed music and dance together with them and other members of the public.
Educational service: supported children from families with homework in our community.
